Competitors compete in the Bass Race format in an elimination style bracket system.
The SPLMAX CUP classes are 120.0 -129.9 , 130.0 - 139.9, 140 -149.9 and 150-159.9db. The competitor must qualify in the top 8 of any class to advance to the next level of competition, eliminations. The maximum number of competitors for eliminations is 8 per bracket. You must qualify in the top 8 to make brackets and receive SPLMAX CUP points.
SPLMAX CUP point system is based on three criteria:
1) How you finished or placed in the competition - FINISH
FINISH points are awarded as follows:
8 points for 1st place finish
7 points for 2nd place finish
6 points for 3rd place finish
5 points for 4th place finish
4 points for 5th place finish
3 points for 6th place finish
2 points for 7th place finish
1 point for 8th place finish
2) How many competitors were in your bracket - BRACKET
BRACKET points are awarded as follows:
8 points for 8 competitors in the bracket
7 points for 7 competitors in the bracket
6 points for 6 competitors in the bracket
5 points for 5 competitors in the bracket
4 points for 4 competitors in the bracket
3 points for 3 competitors in the bracket
2 points for 2 competitors in the bracket
3) What class you competed in - CLASS
CLASS points are awarded as follows:
3 points for finishing in the 150db -159.9db class
2 points for finishing in the 140db -149.9db class
1 points for finishing in the 130db -139.9db class
The points are then calculated using this proven mathematical formula:
FINISH + BRACKET + CLASS = SPLMAX CUP points per event
Examples:
Joe finished 6th with 8 people in his 130 - 139.9dB Bracket
Finish (3) + Bracket (8) + Class (1) = SPLMAX CUP (12) points
Fred finished 1st with 8 people in his 120 - 129.9dB Bracket
Finish (8) + Bracket (8) + Class (0) = SPLMAX CUP (16) points
Sue finished 2nd with 2 people in her 150 - 159.9dB Bracket
Finish (7) + Bracket (2) + Class (3) = SPLMAX CUP (12) points
Jeri finished 1st with 1 person in his 140 - 149.9dB Bracket
Finish (8) + Bracket (0) + Class (2) = SPLMAX CUP (10) points
Competitor cumulative total for all SPLMAX CUP events are added to together for a points total.

No points are awarded. To receive points you must qualify in the top 8 and enter the elimination round. Points are awarded for a top FINISH or place in the event.
No. Only the SPLMAX CUP event points are awarded for the SPLMAX CUP. Any other points from any other competition, event or reward system are not used for the SPLMAX CUP. You can find the SPLMAX CUP points events listed at www.SPLMAXCUP.com .
Examples
Let say you go to a 3x dB Drag Racing event. Those points are not eligible for the SPLMAX CUP.
Let say you go to a 3x Bass Race event that is ALSO a SPLMAX CUP event. Only the points earned from the SPLMAX CUP system will be used. There is absolutely no point 2x or 3x point multipliers used.
No. You are only allowed to enter once at a SPLMAX CUP event. You may NOT enter more than 1 class or more than 1 car at a SPLMAX CUP event.
Examples of not allowed:
1) Competitors first qualifying score is not the class he wants to compete in. So he re - qualifies again in the dB class he wants to compete in. He throws out his first qualifying score and keeps his second. Results - he is disqualified from the SPLMAX CUP points event and no points are awarded.
2) Competitor competes in the 120-129.9 class under Ima Louzer and the 130-139.9 class under Stilma Louzer. He then wants his best finish used for the SPLMAX CUP points. Results - he is disqualified from the SPLMAX CUP points event and no points are awarded.
No, SPLMAX CUP points are only awarded to the driver. Points are NOT awarded to the vehicle or teammates.
Examples:
You enter a vehicle at an event , You receive SPLMAX CUP points.
You fly to another city, borrow a car and enter an event. You receive SPLMAX CUP points.
Your team mate enters and operates your vehicle. You do not receive any SPLMAX CUP points
SPLMAX CUP is open to EVERYONE 16 years old or older. Which includes, but no limited too:
Amateur or professional competitors; car, truck, hatchback or any other licensed and insured motor vehicle; homemade or store bought equipment;
Examples:
Retail store or manufacturer demonstration vehicle would be allowed.
Your sisters 1977 GMC Gremlin with 4 home made 12" woofers would be allowed
Your dads commercial grade garbage truck (daily driver - not a trailer queen) with spark-o-matic head unit would be allowed
SPLMAX CUP is a balanced points race. Every competitor has the opportunity to compete in a maximum of 10 events. The competitor can choose any event in any region to compete at. The 10 show rule is to prevent someone with deep pocks and unlimited free time from competing in all 50 events.
Competitors are prohibited from competing in 11 or more competitions. This is to prevent a competitor from trying to block or eliminate another competitor from trying to win the SPLMAX CUP.
Example
Joe has competed in 10 events and has 160 points. Fred has competed in 9 events and has 155 points. Joe cannot go to Fred's next event and compete against him (try to beat him or prevent him from trying to get additional points) because Joe already has done his maximum 10 events.
Sue has competed in 9 events in the south region and has 175 points. Gerald has competed in 9 events in the north region and has 174 points. Sue can go to the north region and compete at the same show and same class as Gerald because she has not exceeded her 10 show maximum.
Any two competitors can form a 2 man team. You can only be on one (1) team at a time. The team must be declared in writing to the show promoter before the team's first SPLMAX CUP event competing for team points. The competitors must provide to the show promoter their own unique team name. They also must provide the number of shows they competed in and existing points. Once a team has been formed, competitors cannot switch teammates. At anytime a competitor may quit his team, then the team must fold and no longer will acquire points.
The team members can compete in the same location or different locations. They can compete at the same shows or different shows. The team can compete in the same brackets or different brackets. The team members can compete in the same number or different number of events. Each competitors individual SPLMAX CUP points will be added together to form the team points. All individual Bass Race and SPLMAX CUP rules still apply.
A team can be formed at any time. The first member of the team (team founder) may use his individual points towards the team points. The stipulation would be as the first competitors
(team founder) accumulated points would count, but the second competitors points would not begin to count till the team is declared and they compete as a team. Reason - a competitor comes to a SPLMAX CUP event. He finds out about the team competition and invites a team member to come to the next event.Examples
Joe and Larry form a team called Bass Heads. They email Doug (region 1) and write David (region 6) they are forming a team . Joe competes in California and Larry competes in Florida. Their team can start collecting points. Joe competes in 4 shows and acquires 55 points and Larry competes in 6 shows are acquires 96 points. Their two individual scores are added together to form a team score of 151 points.
Fred and Phil form a team called Superfluosness on show # 3. They write Sam (region 5) they are forming a team. Fred has already competed in 2 previous events (30 points) and Phil has competed in 1 previous event (15 points). Phil's previous points will not be used for their team points. Their next event the team will start collecting points. At event number 3, Fred wins the 129 class and receives 16 points. Phil finishes 6 in the 139 class and receives 8 points. Team Superfluosness has 54 points.
Mike and Moe form a team called Cracked Windshield on show# 6, they email Jeremy (region 4). Mike and Moe compete on week number 6. Mike wins 10 points and Moe wins 8 points. Team cracked windshield has 18 points. Mike is so disgusted with Moe lack of performance, he quits Team Cracked windshield. Team Cracked Windshield is done and cannot acquire anymore points. Mike finds a new partner, Bob, on week #7. Mike and Bob form a team called 2nd chance. Bob informs Jeremy (region 4) of the team formation. Mike wins 10 points and Bob wins 12 points. Team 2nd chance has 22 points. None of Mikes previous points are used for 2nd chance.
On week number 3, Adam and Jim Bob drop Cory (region 3) a note that they formed a team 3 weeks ago called WHO DAT. Adam already has competed in 3 events (36 points) and Jim Bob has competed in 2 events (18 points). They believe team WHO DAT should have 54 points. WHO DAT has zero ,none, nada, or nil points. They did not declare their team prior to competing.
